“Kuwait Days” is a new series Al-Salih is currently working on that is slowly taking shape. Starting with private photographs from the 1980s and Instagram images, the artist returns to his themes of home and nation-state. The old photographs are meant to evoke memories and connect them to current issues; to do this, he juxtaposes different images to ask questions. Questions like: What was it like back then? What does a society look like through the eyes of nostalgia? In what ways do morality and education intermingle, and what role does the government play?
