The portraits that appear in Fahar’s work again and again are not – as one might expect – the interpretation of real people, but just like his action paintings, they are created during the process on the canvas. For Fahar, they are like passport photographs of unknown people in whose faces interpersonal relationships, emotions, politics, and life experiences are formed into characters. As a product of his unconsciousness, they become snapshots of his state of mind and thus distinctive self-portraits
