In his series “Liaison” (2015), Fahar deals with the merging of photography and painting. Landscapes and people, the motifs of his photography, are united with abstract surfaces, bodies, and structures and become their own expressive and captivating form of documentation.
“Photography once replaced and surpassed figurative painting, pushing it into the background,” the artist explains. “I want to bring both media together and thus create a tension that expresses something more than a mere photograph or a mere painting can. In contrast to conventional painting on canvas, I engage in a dialog with photography from the very beginning and react to what it is doing to me in the moment. It’s a very fulfilling experience.”
